Fri Oct 11 09:03:29 UTC 2024: ## ‘Visvam’: Gopichand’s Comedy Entertainer Delivers, But Lacks Freshness

**Hyderabad, October 11, 2024** – After a decade-long hiatus from delivering successful films, director Sreenu Vaitla is back with “Visvam,” starring Gopichand. The film, a typical action-comedy, brings the familiar storyline of a patriotic hero fighting against a terrorist threat, with a touch of humor.

The plot follows Gopichand’s character, “Visvam,” who becomes a protector to a young girl targeted by the terrorist Khureshi (Jisshu Sengupta) after he orchestrates a bomb blast in Hyderabad. The film’s narrative hinges on Visvam’s mission to safeguard the girl and bring the terrorist to justice.

While the story itself is not particularly novel, Sreenu Vaitla attempts to keep the audience engaged through his trademark comedic style. The first half of the film offers a decent dose of entertainment, particularly thanks to the comedic performance of 30 Years Prithvi, who delivers rib-tickling dialogues. The interval fight sequence and emotional moments are also well-executed.

However, the second half loses its steam, with a predictable storyline and borrowed elements from previous films. The train episode, for instance, strongly resembles scenes from Venky’s movies, while other sequences borrow from “Dookudu” and “Baadshah.” Despite this, Ganesh and Vennela Kishore do manage to generate some laughs.

The climax, unfortunately, feels underwhelming and lacks the punch expected from a high-stakes action-comedy. The film relies heavily on its comedic elements for entertainment, with the storyline taking a backseat.

Gopichand delivers a solid performance, balancing action and comedy effectively. Kavya Thapar, however, is primarily relegated to glamor roles. The supporting cast, including Kik Shyam and Jisshu Sengupta, contribute commendable performances.

Chetan Bharadwaj’s music fails to leave a mark, and the editing could have been tighter, particularly in the second half. The cinematography is decent, but production values are average.

Overall, “Visvam” is a decent watch for those seeking light-hearted entertainment. However, the lack of originality and reliance on tried-and-tested comedic formulas might leave viewers wanting more. If you’re looking for a film that offers a fresh perspective and compelling storyline, “Visvam” might not be your ideal choice.
