Fri Oct 11 08:22:37 UTC 2024: ## Rajinikanth’s “Vettaiyan” Fails to Ignite: A Disappointing Mix of Crime Thriller and Social Commentary
**Chennai, India** – The much-anticipated release of “Vettaiyan”, featuring Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, and a star-studded cast, has fallen short of expectations. Directed by T.J. Gnanavel, the film attempts to tackle several pressing issues, including drug abuse, education system failures, and corruption within the police force.
The plot revolves around the murder of a school teacher, Saranya (Dushara Vijayan), who exposed a drug trade operating near her school. Rajinikanth plays Athiyan, an encounter specialist who, despite initially pursuing Saranya’s complaint, is unable to prevent her murder.
The film also highlights the struggles of students and parents battling the pressures of competitive exams and expensive coaching centers. However, the overabundance of themes and an overly predictable second half hinder the film’s impact.
While the first 20 minutes are entertaining, thanks to strong performances by Fahadh Faasil and Amitabh Bachchan, the narrative falters as it tries to juggle too many issues. The performances of other talented actors like Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati are underutilized.
Despite the star power, the film fails to deliver a compelling experience. The audience may find themselves disappointed by the lack of depth and the predictable twists and turns. Although it offers a slight improvement over Rajinikanth’s previous film “Darbar”, “Vettaiyan” ultimately falls short of expectations.
