**Chennai, October 11, 2024:** A collision between the Mysuru Junction – Darbhanga Bagmati Superfast Express (Train No. 12578) and a goods train near Kavarapettai Railway Station in Tamil Nadu has resulted in the derailment of at least two coaches. The incident, which occurred near the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border, caused a fire to break out in two of the passenger train’s coaches.

The Bagmati Express, which departed from Mysuru at 10:30 AM, was en route to Darbhanga when the collision occurred. Four A/C compartments of the express train are reported to have derailed. While initial reports indicate some passengers sustained injuries, the exact number and severity of the injuries have yet to be confirmed.

Emergency services are currently at the site of the accident, attending to the injured and working to control the fire. Further details about the cause of the accident and the extent of the damage are awaited.
