Fri Oct 11 03:20:00 UTC 2024: ## 49ers Remain Wary Despite Seahawks’ Coaching Change

**SANTA CLARA, CA** – The San Francisco 49ers will face a Seattle Seahawks team without the familiar presence of Pete Carroll on the sidelines for the first time in 15 years. However, 49ers general manager John Lynch insists the team is not taking their NFC West rivals lightly.

Speaking on NBC Sports Bay Area’s 49ers Game Plan, Lynch acknowledged Carroll’s impact on the Seahawks, calling him “a tremendous coach” who did a “great job.” Carroll was a thorn in the side of the 49ers for years, most notably in the 2013 NFC Championship Game.

But Lynch is aware of the talent and potential of the Seahawks’ new head coach, Mike MacDonald, the former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator. MacDonald has already tasted success against the 49ers, leading his Ravens defense to force four interceptions from Brock Purdy in a win last Christmas.

“I think they found a really, really good head coach in Mike MacDonald,” Lynch said. “He wowed everyone… Everyone says he’s super bright, and you can see it in his schemes.” Lynch believes MacDonald’s leadership will make the Seahawks a strong contender in the division for years to come.

Despite their recent dominance over the Seahawks, winning five straight games, the 49ers are approaching Thursday’s game in Seattle with caution. The team is aware of the challenge posed by the Seahawks’ new regime and their talented roster.
