Fri Oct 11 16:41:58 UTC 2024: ## Air India Express Flight Makes Safe Landing After Landing Gear Issue

**Trichy, Tamil Nadu:** An Air India Express flight bound for Sharjah experienced a technical snag with its landing gear, forcing it to circle over Trichy for nearly two hours on Friday night before making a safe landing. The Boeing 737 aircraft, carrying 141 passengers, took off from Trichy Airport at 5:45 pm and was granted permission for a belly landing after reporting the issue.

However, the pilot successfully landed the aircraft normally, despite facing a hydraulic failure, according to Trichy Airport Director Gopalakrishnan. The Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed the safe landing, highlighting that the DGCA was monitoring the situation and the airport was placed on alert mode.

An Air India Express spokesperson emphasized that no emergency was declared and the aircraft circled to burn off fuel as a precautionary measure. The airline is investigating the cause of the snag and will arrange an alternative aircraft to transport passengers to Sharjah.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed relief at the safe landing and commended the pilot and crew. He directed the District Collector to ensure the safety and provide further assistance to the passengers.

Over 20 ambulances and fire tenders were stationed at the airport to ensure a smooth and safe landing. The DGCA has been informed of the incident and will conduct an internal investigation.
