An Air India Express flight from Trichy to Sharjah was forced to circle in the air for two and a half hours to burn fuel after experiencing a landing gear malfunction. The aircraft, carrying 141 passengers, eventually landed safely at Trichy airport, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The landing gear functioned normally, the ministry stated. However, the aircraft was forced to remain airborne for an extended period to reduce fuel load and ensure a safe landing. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is currently investigating the incident.
The incident comes amid news of other recent mishaps, including the arrest of the Tamilrockers team for circulating pirated copies of new films and a train collision in Tamil Nadu. The Tamilrockers team has refused to answer questions about the piracy operation, and the Tamil Nadu Governor has sent another letter to the Chief Minister on the issue.
