**Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu:** A tragic train accident occurred near Gavarapettai in Thiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu, when a goods train collided with the Mysuru-Darbhanga Express passenger train. The impact of the collision resulted in the derailment of five coaches and the burning of three coaches, leading to chaos and panic in the area.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing two coaches derail immediately after the impact. Fire erupted in the train shortly after, causing passengers to scramble for safety. Local residents rushed to assist, along with fire department officials, who are currently engaged in firefighting and rescue operations.
The Bagmati Express, travelling from Mysuru to Darbhanga via Chennai, was reportedly stationary on the tracks when the goods train crashed into it. Initial reports suggest a possible signal failure as the cause of the accident.
While the extent of the damage is yet to be confirmed, emergency services are actively working to rescue passengers and assess the situation. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed from Thiruvallur.
Police and disaster relief teams from Andhra Pradesh have also reached the accident site, which is located near the Andhra-Tamil Nadu border.
