Thiruvananthapuram: The lucky winner of the Kerala Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery, ticket number TG 434222, was announced on Wednesday, winning the grand prize of ₹25 crore. However, after various deductions, the winner will actually receive a final amount of ₹12.88 crore.
The ticket was sold at SJ Lucky Centre, Panamaram in Wayanad. The prize money is subject to a 10% commission for lottery agents, amounting to ₹2.5 crore, leaving a remaining amount of ₹22.5 crore.
Furthermore, a 30% state tax will be applied, reducing the amount to ₹15.75 crore. An additional 37% surcharge on the income tax, applicable to winners with an income exceeding ₹5 crore, will deduct another ₹2.49 crore.
Finally, a 4% health and education cess on the total tax brings the total deductions to approximately ₹12.11 crore. This leaves the winner with a final amount of ₹12.88 crore after all taxes and charges.
