**Multan, Pakistan:** England fast bowler Olly Stone is set to miss the remainder of the ongoing tour of Pakistan to attend his wedding, which is scheduled for this weekend. He will fly back home midway through the first Test in Multan.
Stone, who made his Test comeback after three years, was not selected for the first Test. The 30-year-old pacer, originally planned to return after the first Test, will now depart earlier to prepare for his nuptials.
His return date to the England squad is uncertain and will depend on the availability of other fast bowlers. The second Test is scheduled for October 15th, and Stone’s participation in the series is highly unlikely.
The England team management understands the importance of Stone’s wedding, which was planned before his recall to the national side. Stone discussed his return plans with head coach Brendon McCullum and managing director Rob Key before the tour commenced.
“We booked the wedding on the basis of me only playing for Notts at the time. Jess said she was happy to move the wedding, and I was adamant on keeping it where it was if possible,” Stone told BBC. “For what she has given up and sacrificed for me, I thought the least I could do was to try and make it work.”
England teammate Joe Root wished Stone well for the new chapter in his life, stating, “It’s a special time in anyone’s life. I’m sure he is all over the place with everything that’s going on, but it’ll be very special for him – and his wife – starting a different chapter in his life. We’ll all be raising cold water to him at some point, celebrating.”
