Mon Oct 07 18:55:01 UTC 2024: ## SA Women Maintain Unbeaten Start with Back-to-Back Wins Against Tasmania

**Adelaide, SA** – The South Australian Women’s cricket team continued their impressive start to the WNCL season, securing two thrilling victories against Tasmania in a doubleheader.

In the first match, the South Australians posted a formidable 9/308 after being sent in to bat. Debutant Hollie Armitage shone with a remarkable 75 runs, forming a crucial 100-run partnership with Maddie Penna who scored 52. Tasmania fought back valiantly, reaching 2/171 before a sensational bowling collapse saw them bowled out for 272, leaving them 36 runs short. The turnaround was orchestrated by the bowling trio of Penna (3/38), Amanda-Jade Wellington (2/65), and Jemma Barsby (3/38), who claimed the final two wickets for SA.

The second match followed a similar script, with the SA Women once again batting first. Bridget Patterson’s impressive 88 runs set the stage for a dominant innings, followed by Hollie Armitage’s near-century (99 runs). Despite falling just short of her maiden WNCL ton, Armitage’s remarkable start to her SA career continued with a total of 174 runs (75 and 99) from her two first games.

The South Australian bowlers then tightened their grip on the game, removing Tasmania captain Elyse Villani early in the chase. Naomi Stalenberg (51 runs) offered some resistance for Tasmania, but ultimately the South Australian bowlers, led by Amanda-Jade Wellington’s 4/29, kept the pressure on. Two crucial run outs in the 38th and 40th overs sealed the victory for the South Australians with an over to spare.

The South Australian Women now look forward to their next WNCL clash against Victoria at CitiPower Centre, Melbourne, on Wednesday, December 18th.
