**New Delhi:** In the wake of exit polls predicting a hung assembly in the recently concluded Jammu and Kashmir elections, former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah has indicated his willingness to form an alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to prevent the BJP from returning to power.
“We might have competed against each other in the elections, but there are no obstacles to an alliance now,” Abdullah said. He added that he expects the Congress party to take a similar stance. While declining to claim the Chief Minister’s position, Abdullah stated that his duty is fulfilled.
PDP candidate Suhaib Yousuf Mir echoed this sentiment, stating that his party is ready to form an alliance with the National Conference to keep the BJP out of power.
Prior to the elections, both the National Conference and Congress had engaged in alliance discussions with the PDP, with seat-sharing proving to be a sticking point.
