Tue Oct 08 11:13:05 UTC 2024: ## Agnipath Scheme Sparks Discontent Among Young Aspirants in Haryana
**Bhiwani, Haryana:** As young men train rigorously at Bhiwani’s Bhim Stadium, hoping to crack the Agniveer recruitment exam and fulfill their dream of serving the Indian Army, a sense of frustration and anger over the Agnipath scheme permeates the air.
Trainers and coaches lament that the scheme’s design has dampened the enthusiasm of many aspiring soldiers, casting a shadow over their career aspirations. While acknowledging the lingering hope in some, they express concern over the scheme’s potential to discourage young men from pursuing a military career.
The discontent among Agniveer hopefuls is expected to reverberate in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections scheduled for October 5th. Many young voters, disillusioned by the Agnipath scheme, are voicing their desire for change. The election results, due on October 8th, will be closely watched for any impact of this simmering frustration.
“What can a 19-year-old achieve in the Agniveer scheme?” questions Laksit Jangda, an aspiring Agniveer. “It takes a lot of time to learn the army’s ways. Expecting a soldier to fight effectively after just four years is unrealistic. How can a less trained soldier compete against a more experienced one?”
Jangda, echoing the sentiments of many, plans to vote and express his anger, though he believes it might not significantly impact the government. “The government, detached from the realities of a middle-class family, will never understand the struggles of their son,” he added.
With the Agnipath scheme a hot button issue, its impact on the election outcome remains a topic of intense speculation. Will the voters’ anger translate into a decisive change, or will it fade into the background of other political considerations? The upcoming elections will provide the answer.
