**Gwalior, India:** India secured a convincing victory over Bangladesh in the first T20I of the three-match series, winning by 3 wickets at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. The win puts India 1-0 up in the series.
India, electing to field first after winning the toss, restricted Bangladesh to a paltry 127 runs in 19.5 overs. Washington Sundar and Arshdeep Singh were the pick of the Indian bowlers, claiming 3 wickets each.
In their chase, India looked comfortable throughout, reaching the target in 11.5 overs with 3 wickets in hand. A crucial knock of 39* from Hardik Pandya and a well-timed 29* from Nitish Reddy saw India home.
The first innings saw Bangladesh struggle to build momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored with 27 runs, but no other batsman managed to get a substantial score.
India’s chase was largely propelled by a steady opening partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. However, Sharma’s dismissal for 16 runs triggered a mini-collapse, with Suryakumar Yadav (29) and Samson (29) also falling in quick succession.
Pandya and Reddy then steered India to victory, showcasing their aggressive batting style and securing a comfortable win. The series continues with the second T20I on November 3rd in Rajkot.
