Mon Oct 07 11:33:50 UTC 2024: ## England’s Gus Atkinson Excited for Pakistan Test Series Despite Tough Conditions
**MULTAN:** England fast bowler Gus Atkinson is raring to go for the upcoming three-match Test series against Pakistan, starting Monday in Multan. Despite the initial challenge of adapting to the hot and humid Pakistani weather, Atkinson is looking forward to the experience of his first away Test series.
“It’s a lot hotter than England,” Atkinson said, acknowledging the difference in conditions. “But I’m just trying not to do anything different. I’ll speak to people who have played here before and try to learn from them. But I’m going to play my own game and do what works for me.”
Atkinson, who made his Test debut this summer and has already taken 34 wickets in six matches, is confident in England’s bowling attack, despite the absence of some senior players due to injury and retirement.
“We have a really good bowling attack here,” Atkinson stated. “We’ve got a lot of young bowlers who are ready to go, and Chris Woakes has been around for a long time, so he’s very experienced.”
The England paceman is aware of the threat posed by Pakistan’s star batsmen, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. However, he is determined to focus on his own game and contribute to England’s success.
“Pakistan has a lot of great players – Babar, Rizwan, and others – so it will be a really good test for us,” Atkinson acknowledged. “I’ll just try to do as well as I can, take as many wickets, and score as many runs as I can.”
Atkinson, who previously played in the Pakistan Super League, is enjoying the support of English fans in Pakistan. He is excited to be back in the country and eager to make the most of his first away Test series.
