**Kochi:** Omprakash, a suspect in a drug case involving film stars, has been arrested by the Kochi Police and was later granted bail. Police sources confirm that Omprakash had been under surveillance for a considerable period.
According to the remand report submitted to the court, Omprakash and his associates were allegedly involved in procuring drugs from foreign countries and distributing them at DJ parties.
Omprakash and his associate, Shihas, were apprehended from a five-star hotel in Maradu on Sunday afternoon. Police recovered cocaine and approximately eight liters of liquor from their possession. Subsequent investigations revealed that several film stars, including Prayaga Martin and Sreenath Bhasi, had visited the three rooms booked by the duo at the hotel. CCTV footage has been collected as evidence.
The police report states that Omprakash had visited Kochi multiple times but managed to evade capture. This time, the rooms were booked under the name of a person named Bobby Chalapathi, not under his own.
Police suspect that drug use occurred in the rooms occupied by Omprakash and Shihas. With multiple individuals visiting the rooms, police are investigating the possibility of a drug party being held there.
The case has sparked controversy and raised concerns about the prevalence of drug abuse within the film industry. Police investigations are ongoing.
