**Araria, Bihar:** A suspected Bangladeshi citizen, identified as “Nawab,” was arrested in Araria, Bihar, after living under a false identity for the past five years. He was apprehended while trying to obtain an Indian passport.

According to a press release from the Superintendent of Police’s office, Nawab had been residing in the Marangi Tola ward of Rampurkodakatti Panchayat in the Nagar police station area. He came under suspicion when he visited the Nagar police station to inquire about passport-related procedures.

The Panchayat Mukhia, Pammi Devi, reported his suspicious activities to the police. Upon questioning, Nawab presented a voter ID card with his wife’s name listed instead of his father’s, raising further doubts about his identity.

During interrogation, Nawab admitted to entering India from Chapa Nawabganj in Bangladesh five years ago. He initially stayed with his maternal aunt in Katihar. He revealed that he was smuggled across the Nagar River for a sum of money.

The arrest of this suspected illegal immigrant has triggered discussions about security concerns and the potential for illegal immigration in the region. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his entry into India and his activities over the past five years.
