Sun Oct 06 04:52:05 UTC 2024: ## Chennai Braces for Massive Airshow Crowd with Extensive Security and Traffic Plans
**Chennai, October 4, 2024:** Chennai is gearing up for a massive crowd expected to descend on Marina Beach this Sunday for the Indian Air Force’s 92nd anniversary airshow. To ensure a smooth and safe event, the Greater Chennai City Police have implemented a comprehensive security and traffic plan.
Over 6,500 police personnel and 1,500 home guards will be deployed for the airshow. Extensive traffic restrictions will be in place, with only vehicles with passes allowed on Kamarajar Salai between Gandhi Statue and War Memorial. Alternative routes have been suggested for motorists without passes, including using Wallajah Salai instead of R.K. Salai for parking.
Multiple parking locations have been designated across the city, with VIP and VVIP parking available on Foreshore Estate Road, Presidency College, Swamy Sivananda Salai, and Lady Wellington College. General parking areas have been set up at various schools and grounds, including Deaf and Dumb CSI School, St. Bedes Higher Secondary School, Santhome Higher Secondary School, MRTS – Light House Road, and Kalaivanar Arangam.
The police are urging spectators to arrive early, as parking lots will be closed at 9:30 am. Public transportation, including MTC buses, Metro trains, and MRTS trains, is strongly recommended for hassle-free travel. The MTC will also operate feeder services from metro stations to key locations around the airshow venue.
The airshow promises to be a spectacular event, and the city is prepared to handle the large crowds with its comprehensive security and traffic plan.
