Sat Oct 05 18:16:00 UTC 2024: ## Wolves Boss Takes the Blame After Humiliating Defeat to Brentford

**LONDON** – Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Gary O’Neil has taken full responsibility for his team’s dismal 5-3 loss to Brentford on Saturday, which leaves them winless and bottom of the Premier League table after seven games.

Brentford’s blistering attack ripped through Wolves’ defense, scoring four goals in the first half alone. The result leaves Wolves with the worst goal difference in the league (-12) after conceding a staggering 21 goals.

“We’ll get to work collectively, and I’m always willing to accept full responsibility for what was produced today. It lands on my shoulders,” O’Neil admitted. “There are no excuses; we have to do better.”

The manager expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance, which he described as being “far away from the game plan.” He admitted that the early goal conceded may have shaken the team, but regardless, he deemed the performance “unacceptable.”

O’Neil’s position is now under intense scrutiny, with Wolves having only one victory in 17 games dating back to March. As Brentford ran riot, even some Wolves fans chanted “You don’t know what you’re doing” at O’Neil during substitutions.

“I would expect scrutiny. I understand how the supporters feel fully. I understand their frustrations,” O’Neil stated. “I’m absolutely furious. If I was a supporter and my team produced that, then I would be really disappointed as well.”

Despite the pressure, O’Neil insists his commitment to the club is unwavering. “They’ll get everything I can give for the whole time that I’m here. I have no problem at all with their reaction to our performance because I agree with them. My feelings towards the fans will never, ever change because they’ve given us so much.”

With the international break providing a brief respite, O’Neil has two weeks to prepare for what could be a daunting encounter against champions Manchester City on October 20th.
