Sat Oct 05 19:45:00 UTC 2024: ## Montana State Dominates Northern Colorado in Homecoming Win

**Bozeman, MT** – The No. 3 ranked Montana State Bobcats showcased their dominance in a 55-17 victory over the Northern Colorado Bears in a homecoming matchup at Bobcat Stadium on Saturday. The Bobcats extended their winning streak against the Bears to 12 games.

Tommy Mellott led the Bobcat offensive charge, throwing for a career-high four touchdowns and adding another on the ground. Taco Dowler was a standout receiver, hauling in two touchdowns, including a 72-yard screen pass.

The Bobcats built a commanding 27-0 lead at halftime, thanks in part to an interception by linebacker Danny Uluilakepa and a blocked punt by Zac Crew. MSU continued their offensive onslaught in the second half, scoring 28 unanswered points before the Bears finally found the endzone.

Despite the lopsided victory, the Bobcats weren’t without their challenges. Starting nose tackle Blake Schmidt missed the game due to injury, and cornerback Jon Johnson was ejected in the first half for targeting.

The Bears, now 0-6 on the season, struggled to generate any offensive momentum against the Bobcats’ stingy defense. UNC head coach Ed Lamb acknowledged the Bobcats’ strength, stating, “I think they’re the biggest, most physical team in the conference.”

The win improves Montana State’s record to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big Sky Conference. They look to continue their winning ways next week as they travel to face the Sacramento State Hornets.
