Sat Oct 05 03:40:37 UTC 2024: ## Aces Ace Out Liberty in Game 3, Sending Series Back to Brooklyn

**LAS VEGAS** – The Las Vegas Aces, fueled by a dominant second half performance, defeated the New York Liberty 95-81 in Game 3 of the WNBA semifinals on Friday night, preventing the Liberty from securing a spot in the Finals.

The Liberty, who had entered the game with a 2-1 series lead, were unable to capitalize on their opportunity to close out the Aces at Michelob ULTRA Arena. The Aces, despite facing elimination, displayed the grit and determination of champions, outscoring the Liberty 43-22 in the second half.

MVP A’ja Wilson led the Aces’ charge with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Jackie Young contributed 24 points and Kelsey Plum added 20.

The Liberty’s offense struggled throughout the game, particularly in the second half. Sabrina Ionescu, who had a strong Game 2, was held to just four points and missed her first five shots. Breanna Stewart led the Liberty with 19 points.

“They came out and did what they’re supposed to do,” said Liberty coach Sandy Brondello. “We didn’t play very well, but they took us out of our rhythm.”

The Aces’ momentum shifted in the third quarter, as they went on a 17-0 run, highlighting their ability to overcome adversity and pressure.

The series now shifts back to Brooklyn for Game 4 on Sunday, with a potential Game 5 scheduled for Tuesday if necessary. The Liberty, despite this loss, remain confident they can overcome this setback.

“This is when teams are most dangerous, when their backs are against the wall,” said Stewart. “We didn’t come ready for all that. We didn’t embrace the hard things. This s–t isn’t easy. We need to be ready for the next game because it’s not going to be easy from here.”
