**New Orleans, LA** – New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller has returned to practice this week after a hamstring injury sustained in the first day of training camp. The second-year back has been sidelined for 10 weeks and is now within a 21-day window to return to the active roster.
Miller, who has dealt with multiple injuries since entering the league last year, acknowledged the mental toll the setbacks have taken. He emphasized the importance of self-reflection and focusing on what he can do to prevent future injuries.
“It’s hard because of all the stuff I dealt with last year, and then the first day of training camp something happened,” Miller said. “But I’ve been taking it day by day, looking at myself in the mirror and saying, ‘What can I do better?’ Injuries happen, … but what can I do better to prevent it?”
While Miller’s return could be imminent, the Saints have yet to commit to a timeline. He could potentially make his comeback on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, or the team might choose to bring him back gradually over the next few weeks.
Head coach Dennis Allen, who has been limited in evaluating Miller due to his injury history, expressed his satisfaction with the running back’s performance in practice this week.
“He had a good week of practice, and it was good to have him out there,” Allen said. “We’ll see how he continues to go and make our decisions as we move along.”
Miller’s return could provide a much-needed boost for the Saints’ offense. With Alvin Kamara leading the NFL in scrimmage yards but also carrying a heavy workload, Miller’s presence could alleviate pressure on the star running back.
“Whenever they’re ready for me, I’ll be ready,” Miller said.
