**New Delhi:** The Indian real estate sector is experiencing a rapid growth spurt, poised to become the country’s largest employment generator, industry leaders announced on Saturday. The sector currently holds the second-largest employment position after agriculture, boasting an impressive 18.7% compound annual growth rate (CAGR).

This burgeoning industry is attracting a wide range of talent, exceeding the traditional scope of engineers and architects, according to Rajesh Doshi, Secretary of NAREDCO Maharashtra. “Real estate is for smart, driven individuals who can turn possibilities into opportunities,” said Doshi, emphasizing the evolving needs of the sector.

The integration of technology, big data, and 3D modeling has created a demand for skilled professionals like data scientists, capable of analyzing industry trends and dynamics. This “mother industry” is also fostering growth in ancillary sectors and PropTech startups, with over Rs 40,000 crore invested in the latter, further fueling the creation of diverse career paths, highlighted Vikas Jain, President-Elect of NAREDCO Maharashtra Next-Gen.

While the sector’s future outlook remains optimistic, the Knight Frank–NAREDCO report suggests a measured approach among stakeholders. The ‘Current Sentiment Index Score’ has moderated to 65 from its peak in Q1 2024, indicating a cautious optimism. Similarly, the ‘Future Sentiment Index’ has adjusted from 73 in Q1 2024 to 65 in Q2 2024, reflecting a positive yet conservative outlook for the near term.
