**Gwalior, India – October 5, 2024:** All-rounder Shivam Dube has been ruled out of India’s upcoming three-match T20 series against Bangladesh due to a back injury. The injury, sustained during a practice session, has forced Dube to withdraw from the series entirely.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that young left-handed batsman Tilak Varma has been named as Dube’s replacement. Varma, who has already made a name for himself in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL), is expected to bolster India’s middle order.
Dube’s absence leaves a significant gap in the Indian squad, as he has been a key player in their recent white-ball plans. His all-round skills offered valuable flexibility, contributing significantly to both the batting and bowling departments.
While the extent of Dube’s injury remains unclear, team management has decided to take a cautious approach to prevent further complications.
Varma, known for his aggressive style and ability to handle pressure, is set to join the Indian squad in Gwalior ahead of the first match, scheduled for Sunday.
The three-match T20I series will see India and Bangladesh face off in Gwalior (October 6), Delhi (October 9) and Hyderabad (October 12).
