Sat Oct 05 05:02:10 UTC 2024: ## Congress Confident of Haryana Victory, Selja Claims BJP Weakness

**Hissar, Haryana:** As voting commenced today for the 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana, Congress MP Kumari Selja expressed unwavering confidence in her party’s victory, claiming the BJP was “very weak” and ready to welcome her leadership.

Speaking to reporters after casting her vote in Hisar, Selja declared, “Today’s fight will change the fate of Haryana. This is a one-sided contest… BJP is already very weak. They will do anything to have strong leaders with them… We will win all 90 seats.”

Addressing speculation regarding a rift within the state Congress, she stated the high command would ultimately decide leadership decisions. Earlier, she had expressed her own candidacy for the top post, emphasizing her seniority and experience.

Over two crore voters across the state are eligible to choose their representatives in the high-stakes election. The BJP is seeking a third consecutive term, while the Congress aims to reclaim power after a decade-long absence.

Key issues impacting the election include farmer protests, wrestler protests, and anti-incumbency sentiment. The major contenders include the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the alliances of INLD-BSP and JJP-ASP.

Voting commenced at 7 am and will conclude at 6 pm. The results for Haryana, along with Jammu and Kashmir, will be announced on October 8. In the 2019 elections, the BJP formed a coalition government with JJP after securing 40 seats, while Congress won 31. JJP later dissolved the coalition.
