**Angeles City, Philippines** – The Philippines continues to make waves in the global culinary scene with Angeles City in Pampanga recently being awarded “Asia’s Best Emerging Culinary City Destination” at the World Culinary Awards Gala Ceremony 2024.

The prestigious recognition, presented on October 3rd, highlights the city’s rise as a star in food tourism. Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco celebrated the achievement, attributing it to the “exceptional talent, creativity, and dedication of its local chefs and food artisans.”

“Angeles City’s rich culinary heritage, led by its iconic dishes like sisig, continues to captivate food enthusiasts not only in the Philippines but across the world, showcasing the power of Filipino cuisine on the global stage,” said Frasco.

The award was accepted by the Department of Tourism Central Luzon regional director Richard Daenos in Dubai, UAE. Frasco extended her congratulations to the local government, stakeholders, and food community for their dedication to preserving and promoting the city’s culinary traditions.

“This award is a testament to the collective hard work and passion of the people of Angeles City and the province of Pampanga in safeguarding and celebrating their unique culinary heritage,” she added.

Known for its signature sisig, tokwa’t baboy, street food, and bibingka, Angeles City boasts a diverse culinary scene, offering both local and international cuisine. The city outshined other renowned Asian culinary destinations like Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, and Kyoto to claim the prestigious title.

The World Culinary Awards, a sister event to the World Travel Awards, recognizes excellence in the culinary industry after a year-long global search for the best culinary brands.
