Sun Oct 06 08:21:17 UTC 2024: ## Indian Air Force to Manufacture All Equipment Domestically by 2047

In a major strategic shift, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced plans to manufacture all its equipment within India by 2047. This decision comes in light of escalating geopolitical tensions and the growing need for self-reliance in defense technology.

Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, speaking at a press conference ahead of Air Force Day, emphasized the criticality of indigenous weapons systems to effectively address future security challenges. He acknowledged the rapid development of infrastructure by China, particularly in the Ladakh sector, highlighting the strategic importance of self-sufficiency.

The announcement coincides with India’s ongoing efforts to reduce dependence on foreign arms suppliers and develop its domestic defense industry. The IAF’s move signifies a crucial step towards achieving this goal.

The IAF Chief also confirmed the successful delivery of three S-400 missile systems from Russia, with the remaining two units expected by next year.

This strategic decision by the IAF will have significant implications for the Indian defense industry, boosting domestic production capabilities and contributing to a more robust national security posture.
