**Mumbai:** Palak Sidhwani, who plays the role of Sonu Bhide in the popular sitcom ‘तारक मेहता का उल्टा चश्मा’, has accused the show’s makers, Neela Film Productions, of mental harassment and preventing her from leaving the show despite her repeated attempts to do so.
In an interview with Bombay Times, Palak denied the claims made by the producers, stating that she had informed them of her intention to leave the show on August 8th. She was told an official email would be sent to her for submitting her resignation, but the makers repeatedly delayed the process.
Palak also revealed that she was denied access to the show’s contract before signing it and was only given pointers after persistent requests. Furthermore, she claimed that she had informed the makers about her intention to take up other assignments and endorsements alongside the show, to which they had initially agreed.
“I have been mentally harassed. When I informed the makers about my ill health, my concerns were ignored. I even had a panic attack on set, and was still forced to shoot. Moreover, I have not been paid my dues amounting to over 21 lakhs,” said Palak. She also confirmed that she has sought legal advice and will take the necessary steps to protect her career.
In response, Neela Film Productions released a statement, alleging that Palak had violated several terms of her exclusive artist contract, causing significant losses to the show and the production company. They claim that she undertook third-party endorsements without their permission, despite being warned repeatedly. When no other option remained, they issued a legal notice to the actress.
Palak has been a part of ‘तारक मेहता का उल्टा चश्मा’ for the past five years, replacing Nidhi Bhanushali in the role of Sonu Bhide. The situation has now escalated into a legal battle, with both parties presenting their versions of the events. It remains to be seen how this controversy unfolds and how it impacts the future of the popular sitcom.
