Sat Oct 05 01:12:00 UTC 2024: ## Free Bioprocessing Training Offered at UNC Pembroke to Prepare for Entry-Level Jobs

**PEMBROKE, NC** – The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) will host a free, two-week bioprocessing training program from December 9-20, 2024, to help students and residents prepare for entry-level positions in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. This opportunity is part of the Accelerate NC – Life Sciences Manufacturing initiative, funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s Build Back Better Regional Challenge (BBBRC).

The intensive training, held daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at UNCP’s Biotechnology Research and Training Center at Carolina Commerce and Technology Park (COMTtech), is limited to 12 participants.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. They must also complete five online courses prior to the training. Upon completion of the two-week program, students will earn multiple certifications in biomanufacturing, including an advanced certificate in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

This training is part of a broader initiative aimed at strengthening regional economies and supporting community-led economic development across the state. The Accelerate NC – Life Sciences Manufacturing coalition, led by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, received $25 million in BBBRC funding to support this effort.

UNCP has already hosted two cohorts of training participants, demonstrating the success of this program. Those interested in applying for this valuable opportunity can visit biomanufacturing registration or learn more at uncp.edu/biotraining.
