Sat Oct 05 14:02:22 UTC 2024: ## Arsenal Makes Three Changes for Southampton Clash, Sterling Earns First Premier League Start

**London, England** – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made three changes to his starting lineup for today’s Premier League match against Southampton. Raheem Sterling, who joined the Gunners from Chelsea this summer, earns his first Premier League start for the club.

Sterling replaces Gabriel Martinelli on the wing, while Gabriel Jesus starts up front in place of Leandro Trossard. The changes follow Arsenal’s midweek Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, where Jurrien Timber sustained an injury, ruling him out of the Southampton match. Thomas Partey is expected to fill in at right-back with Ben White also unavailable. Jorginho will take Partey’s usual midfield spot and captain the side.

On the bench, Takehiro Tomiyasu makes a welcome return, while Mikel Merino could make his league debut for Arsenal.

Southampton, meanwhile, have made four changes to their lineup following their 3-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Monday. Joe Aribo and Ryan Manning come into midfield, while Maxwell Cornet and Ryan Fraser drop out. Kyle Walker-Peters starts at left-back, replacing Charlie Taylor, and Ross Stewart leads the line, shifting Tyler Dibling to the wing and Lesley Ugochukwu to the bench.

**Full Lineups:**

**Arsenal:** Raya, Partey, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Jorginho, Rice, Havertz, Saka, Sterling, Jesus.

**Southampton:** Ramsdale, Sugawara, Bednarek, Harwood-Bellis, Walker-Peters, Downes, Manning, Aribo, Dibling, Fernandes, Stewart.
