Sat Oct 05 04:06:56 UTC 2024: ## Meghalaya SSA Teachers Issue Ultimatum to Education Minister for Job Security
SHILLONG, Oct 3: The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSSA) has issued a two-month ultimatum to Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma, demanding a policy that guarantees job security for SSA teachers in the state.
The MSSSA, in a letter to the minister, expressed their willingness to collaborate with the government to develop a policy similar to those adopted in other states. They urged the Education department to complete all technical procedures and implement the policy within two months.
The association warned that any delay would result in democratic protests and agitations. “For the best interests of both the students and teachers in the state, we expect the government to implement the policy securing SSA teachers’ services within two months,” stated the MSSSA.
The demand for job security comes after a unanimous decision by the MSSSA General Executive Committee (GEC) to prioritize service security over salary enhancement. This resolution was further endorsed in a larger meeting of SSA teachers held on Wednesday.
The MSSSA’s ultimatum highlights the growing concerns of SSA teachers regarding their employment status. The association believes that job security is crucial for the well-being of both the teachers and the students they serve.
