Sat Oct 05 05:26:00 UTC 2024: ## SDSU Men Take Home Title at SDSU Classic Cross Country Meet

**BROOKINGS, SD** – Carson Noecker, a sophomore from Hartington, Nebraska, led the South Dakota State men’s cross country team to victory at their home SDSU Classic meet on Friday. Noecker broke his own course record, finishing the 8,000-meter event in a blistering 24:11.28, securing medalist honors.

SDSU edged out North Dakota State for the men’s title, 23 to 47, with NDSU finishing third overall. The meet also included NCAA Division II Mary and unattached teams from SDSU and Augustana.

The women’s race saw a closer finish, with North Dakota State narrowly defeating SDSU, 41 to 46. South Dakota, with a limited squad, finished fifth.

Yonca Kutluk, running unattached, took the win in the 6,000-meter women’s event, finishing in 20:40.25.

The SDSU team will split its focus in the coming weeks, with some athletes competing at the Wisconsin Pre Nationals hosted by the University of Wisconsin and others participating in the Jim Drews Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on October 19th. USD will also head to Madison for the Pre Nationals meet.
