Fri Oct 04 19:50:59 UTC 2024: ## Napoli Climbs to Top of Serie A with 2-0 Win Over Monza

**NAPLES, ITALY** – Napoli stormed to the top of the Serie A table on Sunday after a convincing 2-0 victory over Monza at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Goals from Matteo Politano and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia secured the win for the reigning champions, who have rediscovered their form under new coach Antonio Conte.

Politano opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, driving into the box from the right and slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. Kvaratskhelia added a second 11 minutes later, reacting quickly to a loose ball in the penalty area and finding the back of the net.

Despite the impressive win, Conte remained cautious about Napoli’s title ambitions. “I have to look at the reality,” he said, “and that says we are very far from flying high.”

The victory saw Napoli overtake Juventus, who are now in second place with 12 points. AC Milan, Inter Milan and Torino are all tied for third with 11 points.

Meanwhile, Torino’s first league defeat of the season came in a thrilling 3-2 loss at home to Lazio. Despite a late fightback from Torino, Lazio’s goals from Matteo Guendouzi, Boulaye Dia, and Tijjani Noslin proved too much to overcome.

Roma also secured a victory, but it came with a heavy price tag. They emerged 2-1 winners over lowly Venezia, but the victory came amidst a tense atmosphere following the sacking of legendary midfielder Daniele De Rossi as manager.

Other notable results included Como’s 3-2 win over 10-man Verona, thanks to a brace from Patrick Cutrone. Empoli and Fiorentina played out a goalless draw.
