**RAINSVILLE, AL** – Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC) celebrated the grand opening of its new Workforce Development Skills Training Center on October 3, 2024. The 55,000 square foot, $30 million facility will offer state-of-the-art training for in-demand industries, including industrial systems maintenance, industrial electronics, precision machining, and building construction.
The center, located between the Industrial Systems Technology Center and the Tom Bevill Lyceum, was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, Speaker of the House Nathaniel Ledbetter, and Senator Steve Livingston.
“This is a game changer for generations to come in our region,” said Kerry Wright, Dean of Workforce Development and Skills Training at NACC. “Countless individuals over the next 50 years and beyond will benefit from this expansion.”
The new center will also feature flexible space that can accommodate up to six different programs, allowing NACC to adapt to the changing needs of the local workforce.
The project, which began in 2018, was funded through a combination of state and local funds. NACC President Dr. David Campbell expressed his gratitude to all involved in bringing the project to fruition.
“We are extremely excited about this event,” said Dr. Campbell. “This will upgrade the workforce and economy in North Alabama. We at Northeast offer many career tech programs now, but we will expand them and offer even more with this facility.”
The NACC Workforce Development Center is part of the ACCS ASPIRE 2030 initiative, which aims to improve infrastructure and training across Alabama’s community college system.
