Sat Oct 05 02:06:00 UTC 2024: ## Bowdon Red Devils Fall to Manchester in Region Opener

**Bowdon, GA** – The Bowdon Red Devils suffered their first region loss of the season, falling to the Manchester Blue Devils 28-20 in a hard-fought matchup Friday night. The game, a rematch of last year’s Class A D-II State Championship, was a tight contest until late in the third quarter when Manchester pulled ahead.

The Red Devils started strong, taking a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter on a Nate Bhony touchdown run. Manchester answered quickly, tying the game on a Darius Favors touchdown run.

Both teams struggled to score for the remainder of the first half, with neither team finding the end zone until late in the third quarter. C.J. Favors gave the Blue Devils their first lead of the game with a quarterback sneak touchdown. A penalty on Bowdon allowed Manchester to convert a two-point conversion and extend their lead to 15-7.

A muffed kickoff by Bowdon led to another Manchester touchdown, putting them up 21-7. Bowdon fought back, scoring on a Joshawia Davis touchdown run, but Manchester responded with another Darius Favors touchdown to push their lead to 28-13.

The Red Devils closed the gap with a 59-yard touchdown pass from Charles Maxell III to Kaiden Prothro, but they were unable to complete the comeback and ultimately fell to 0-1 in region play.

Bowdon will look to bounce back next week as they travel to Mount Zion for another region matchup.
