Sat Oct 05 16:09:59 UTC 2024: ## Historic Kolkata Derby to Ignite Indian Super League

**KOLKATA, INDIA** – On Saturday, October 5th, football history will be made in Kolkata as two of India’s oldest clubs, Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Mohammedan SC, clash in the Indian Super League (ISL). The “mini derby,” as it’s known, is a fiercely contested rivalry steeped in tradition, with bragging rights on the line beyond just the three points.

Mohammedan SC enters the match riding high after securing their first-ever ISL victory against Chennaiyin FC, while Mohun Bagan, despite their impressive ISL record, are looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Bengaluru FC.

“We are conceding too many goals,” acknowledged Mohun Bagan coach Jose Molina, highlighting their leaky defense. However, he remains optimistic about their chances, pointing out that “to improve in defense, we need to improve in attack.” He also expressed concern over injuries to key players Sahal Abdul Samad and Manvir Singh.

Mohammedan SC head coach Andrey Chernyshov remains grounded despite their recent win. While acknowledging Mohun Bagan’s strength, he believes his team has proven their mettle in recent matches. “We need to play good football, and that’s what the sport is all about. It’s about being ready for the big moments,” said Chernyshov.

The “Black and White Army” and the “Green and Maroon” face off at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, setting the stage for an epic clash that promises to be one of the most exciting derbies of the ISL season.
