**Ipswich Town** continued their impressive start to the Premier League season with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against **Aston Villa** at Portman Road on Sunday. The draw marks Ipswich’s fourth consecutive stalemate in the league, leaving them still searching for their first win back in the top flight.
Liam Delap was the hero for the home side, scoring both goals in a captivating encounter. He opened the scoring early on, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Villa, and then equalized in the 72nd minute with a brilliant individual effort.
Aston Villa twice took the lead in the first half, thanks to goals from Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins. Rogers found the back of the net after a swift counter-attack, while Watkins added his fourth goal of the season with a powerful header.
Despite Villa’s early dominance, Ipswich fought back valiantly and controlled the second half, creating numerous chances to snatch the victory.
“It was a really good game and we showed what we are about from minute one,” Delap said after the match. “We created so many chances and probably deserved the win after the second half performance.”
Aston Villa missed the opportunity to move into joint-top position with Liverpool, remaining in fifth place on 13 points. Ipswich, meanwhile, climbed to 15th with four points.
“They always put a lot of pressure on us and we couldn’t really implement our game plan,” admitted Watkins. “Ipswich were always on to us and it was a bit of a basketball game, which is what they wanted but we didn’t. It was a difficult game and I think a point is a fair result.”
With both teams showcasing their attacking prowess, the match provided a thrilling spectacle for the fans at Portman Road. While Ipswich will be disappointed to not have taken all three points, they will take confidence from their performance and their ability to come back from a two-goal deficit.
