**Chandigarh:** Haryana goes to the polls today, with over 2.03 crore voters set to decide the fate of 1031 candidates vying for 90 seats in the state assembly. Voting will begin at 7 am across 20,632 polling booths.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aims for a hat-trick victory, while the Congress is hoping for a comeback after years out of power. Other contenders include the Aam Aadmi Party, the Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance, the Jannayak Janata Party, and the Azad Samaj Party.
Among the candidates, 101 are women, and 464 are contesting as independents. Notably, 5.25 lakh voters fall in the age group of 18-19 years, and 2.31 lakh voters are over 85 years old, said Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer, Pankaj Aggarwal.
The counting of votes will be held on October 8th.
