Thu Oct 03 13:30:38 UTC 2024: ## Solanke Returns to England Squad for Nations League Games

**LONDON -** Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke has earned a recall to the England squad for next week’s Nations League matches against Greece and Finland. The 27-year-old last donned the Three Lions jersey in 2017 and has been in impressive form for Spurs since his summer move from Bournemouth.

Solanke’s inclusion comes after a string of strong performances for his new club, including goals in his last three games. Interim manager Lee Carsley, who has been in charge since Gareth Southgate’s resignation, is confident in Solanke’s abilities.

“Dom’s a player that I’m fully aware of, having worked with him in the past,” Carsley said. “He was really close to being in the last squad, obviously got injured just before selection. He’s a player that’s done so well at Bournemouth, and now he’s taken that form into Spurs.”

Solanke’s return is one of several notable changes to the squad. Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham is back after missing the first two Nations League games due to injury, while Kyle Walker, Phil Foden, and Cole Palmer are also included after missing the previous fixtures.

However, some notable absentees include James Maddison, Harry Maguire, and Eberechi Eze, with Carsley explaining that he wants to explore other options during the upcoming games.

England currently sits second in Group B2, trailing Greece on goal difference. The team will host Greece at Wembley on October 10th before traveling to Finland three days later.

Carsley maintains that the players left out of the current squad remain part of the long-term plan, emphasizing the depth of talent within English football.
