**Thiruvananthapuram:** Mohan Raj, a veteran Malayalam actor best known for his villainous roles, passed away on Thursday at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram. The 62-year-old actor had been battling Parkinson’s disease and diabetes and was undergoing Ayurvedic treatment in the city.

Mohan Raj, who made his acting debut in the 1988 film “Moonam Mura,” went on to act in over 300 movies, including several hits with superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty. He achieved widespread recognition for his performance as the antagonist “Keerikkadan Jose” in the 1989 blockbuster “Kireedam.”

Throughout his career, he was known for his intense and memorable portrayals of villainous characters. He also starred in Tamil and Telugu films, and later explored comedic roles and even acted in television serials. His last on-screen appearance was in the 2022 Mammootty movie “Rorschach.”

Some of Mohan Raj’s most notable films include “Mimics Parade” (1991), “Uppukandam Brothers” (1993), “Hitler” (1996), “Aaraam Thampuran” (1997), “Pathram” (1999), “Narasimham” (2000), “Mayavi” (2007), and “Hallo” (2007).

The actor’s passing has triggered an outpouring of grief among fans and colleagues. Social media is abuzz with tributes and reminiscences about his impactful performances in iconic films.

Mohan Raj is survived by his wife, Usha, and their two daughters, Jaishma and Kaaviya.
