**New Delhi:** Kia India has launched two highly anticipated vehicles in the Indian market today. The company has unveiled the fourth-generation Kia Carnival, a popular MPV, and its new electric SUV, the Kia EV9. The EV9, previously showcased as a concept at the Auto Expo last year, is now available for purchase in India.
Kia has launched the EV9 in its fully loaded GT-Line trim, featuring a striking design and a powerful battery pack. Priced at ₹1.3 crore (ex-showroom), the EV9 is being imported to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), hence its high price tag.
The spacious EV9 boasts impressive dimensions: 5,015mm in length, 1,980mm in width, 1,780mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,100mm. Its exterior design is captivating, with L-shaped DRLs, vertically stacked LED headlights, a closed-off grille with integrated digital-pattern lighting, and a dual-tone bumper with vertical LED taillights, a spoiler, and a skid plate.
Kia EV9 is offered as a standard 6-seater with captain seats in the second row. Inside, it features a dual-screen display, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. It also comes with a 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, storage space below the center console, physical controls below the AC vents, and a dual-tone brown and black interior.
The EV9 is powered by a 99.8kWh battery pack paired with dual electric motors, generating a combined output of 384hp and 700Nm of torque. Kia claims a range of 561km on a single charge, potentially allowing it to cover the distance between Delhi and Lucknow (approximately 552km).
The EV9 can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.3 seconds, showcasing its powerful performance. Its battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 24 minutes using a 350kW DC fast charger.
The EV9 offers luxurious features such as electrically adjustable seats with massage functions and adjustable leg support, three-zone climate control, a dual electric sunroof, a head-up display, a digital inside rear-view mirror, vehicle-to-load functionality, a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, a digital key, OTA updates, and Kia Connect connected-car technology.
Safety is a priority in the EV9, which comes equipped with 10 airbags, ESC, hill descent control, vehicle stability management, front, side, and rear parking sensors, all-wheel disc brakes, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) that includes features like forward collision warning and avoidance assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, and lane keep assist.
