**Chennai, India -** The IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has launched a new training program aimed at creating a force of “Cyber Commandos” among law enforcement officers across India. This initiative, backed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, signifies a critical step towards bolstering India’s cyber defence capabilities.
The program intends to equip officers with advanced skills to effectively counter cyber threats. Through rigorous training, both state and central police personnel will be transformed into cyber experts capable of investigating complex digital crimes, tracking cybercriminals, and safeguarding critical infrastructure.
This specialized force will operate as a proactive defense against cyberattacks, a crucial shift from the reactive approach currently employed by existing cybercrime cells. While these cells primarily focus on investigating and prosecuting cybercrimes, the Cyber Commandos will take a more preventative stance, safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining India’s digital sovereignty.
The launch of this program is a significant development in India’s efforts to combat the growing threat of cybercrime. By equipping law enforcement officers with the necessary skills and training, the program aims to ensure that India is well-prepared to face future cyber challenges and protect its digital interests.
