**New Delhi, India** – Google announced a slew of new initiatives and partnerships at the 10th edition of its “Google for India” event, focusing on AI advancements, financial inclusion, and clean energy.
**Gold-Backed Loans via GPay:** Google is partnering with Muthoot Finance to offer gold-backed loans through its mobile payment service, GPay. This move aims to leverage India’s substantial gold reserves and provide accessible credit options with competitive interest rates.
**AI Assistant Goes Multilingual:** Google’s AI assistant, Gemini Live, will be available in Hindi starting October 3rd, 2024. **Open-Source Gemini Agent Framework:** To further promote AI accessibility, Google is introducing an open-source Gemini Agent Framework, enabling Indian businesses to integrate its AI model with Beckn-enabled open networks. **Gemini Flash 1.5 Launch:** India will be one of the first countries to receive the Gemini Flash 1.5 update within the next few months. This upgrade will empower organizations to implement cloud and AI solutions securely within the country.
**Google Safety Engineering Center and Clean Energy Initiatives:** Google also announced the establishment of a Google Safety Engineering Center in India in 2025. Furthermore, the company has entered into long-term partnerships with Adani Group and CleanMax to support India’s clean energy goals. These initiatives are expected to contribute 186 MW of new renewable energy capacity to the Indian grid by 2026.
**Collaborative Efforts for Digital Inclusion:** Google is collaborating with EkStep Foundation to develop “DPI in a box,” a plug-and-play model for nations looking to build their digital infrastructure. Google.org has also committed a USD 4 million grant to Central Square Foundation to promote AI literacy in underserved communities.
