Thu Oct 03 18:55:22 UTC 2024: ## ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup: England Announces Squad for 2025 Tournament

The second edition of the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup is set to take place in Malaysia and Thailand from January 18th to February 2nd, 2025. Sixteen teams will be competing, including the hosts Malaysia, making their debut, and Samoa, making their first appearance in any ICC World Cup.

England, the runner-up in the inaugural edition of the tournament, has announced its squad for the upcoming competition. The team will be led by Chris Guest, assisted by Beth Morgan and Dan Helesfay.

The squad includes a mix of experienced players and new talent. Notable names include Phoebe Brett, Olivia Brinsden, and Tilly Corteen-Coleman, all of whom have previously represented England at the Under-19 level.

“We hope each individual takes a huge amount from the experience they are about to have and uses it to continue developing themselves as a person and player,” said Guest. “What excites me most about working with the under-19 age group is the constant cycle of new talent and new groups coming through.”

England has been placed in Group B alongside Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA.

The tournament is a crucial platform for emerging players, with many former participants going on to make their senior international debuts. Several members of the England squad from the inaugural tournament have already progressed to play for the senior team, including Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Hannah Baker, Seren Smale, and Charis Pavely.

The ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup continues to highlight the growing talent pool in women’s cricket and provides a vital platform for young athletes to showcase their skills on the international stage.
