**Thiruvananthapuram:** Veteran Malayalam actor Mohan Raj, known for his memorable villainous roles, passed away on Tuesday evening at the age of 68. He breathed his last at his residence in Kanjiramoodu, Thiruvananthapuram. His funeral will be held at his ancestral home today.

Mohan Raj, who began his film career with the movie “Mூന്നാം മുറ” (1988), rose to fame with his iconic portrayal of “Keerikadan Jose” in the blockbuster movie “Kireedam” (1989). His performance as the ruthless antagonist earned him a special place in the hearts of Malayalam cinema lovers.

He went on to act in over 300 films, making his mark in a variety of roles, including notable performances in films like “Aaraam Thampuran,” “Chengkol,” “Narasimham,” and “Uppu Kondam Brothers.” His last film was “Roshak” starring Mammootty.

Mohan Raj was also a prominent figure in the television industry, starring in popular serials such as “Kadamathath Kathanaar,” “Swami Ayyappan,” and “Munnumani.” He also worked as an Enforcement Officer before venturing into the film industry.

The actor, who had been battling health issues for a while, will be sorely missed by his fans and the Malayalam film fraternity. He leaves behind a legacy of powerful performances that will forever be etched in the annals of Malayalam cinema.
