**Thiruvananthapuram:** Renowned Malayalam actor Mohan Raj, best known for his role as “Keerikaadan Jose” in the film “Kireedam,” passed away on [Date] at his home in Kaniramkulam, Thiruvananthapuram. He was [Age] years old.
Mohan Raj, who had been battling illness for a while, acted in over 80 films across various languages. He was known for his powerful villainous roles. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and had been undergoing Ayurvedic treatment in Thiruvananthapuram for the past year.
Mohan Raj’s cinematic journey began in 1988 with the film “Mooannam Mura.” He became a popular face in the Malayalam film industry, with prominent roles in movies like “Artham,” “Vyuham,” “Rajavaazcha,” “Maruppuram,” “Purappad,” “Kasargod Kadarbhai,” “Uppukandam Brothers,” “Chengkol,” “Aaram Thampuran,” “Vazhunnor,” “Patram,” “Narasimham,” “Naran,” and “Mayavi,” among many others.
After 2008, he appeared in only two Malayalam films. He starred in the 2015 film “Chirakodiഞ്ഞ Kinakkal” and made a comeback in 2022 in Mammootty’s “Roshák” where he played Vishwanathan, the father of Grace Antony’s character. He also appeared in 9 Tamil films and 31 Telugu films.
Before entering the film industry, Mohan Raj worked as an Assistant Enforcement Officer in Kozhikode. After his retirement, he resided in Chennai with his family. He is survived by his wife, Usha, and children, Jaishma and Kavya.
