Veteran Malayalam actor Mohan Raj, popularly known as “Keerikadan Jose”, passed away at his residence in Kanjirakkulam, Thiruvananthapuram. He was 78 years old and had been battling illness for a prolonged period.
Raj, a former Enforcement Officer at Customs, was known for his roles in over 300 films across Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu cinema. He gained recognition for his character “Keerikadan Jose” in the film “Kireedam”.
Raj began his acting career with the Mohanlal-starrer “Moonaam Mura”, directed by K Madhu. He went on to act in several notable films including “Artham”, “Vyuham”, “Rajavaazhcha”, “Maruppuram”, “Purappad”, “Kasargod Kadar Bhai”, “Uppukandam Brothers”, “Chengkol”, “Aaram Thampuran”, “Vazhunnor”, “Patram”, and “Narasimham”.
He had been undergoing Ayurvedic treatment in Thiruvananthapuram for the past year after relocating from Chennai, where he resided with his family after retirement. He is survived by his wife Usha and daughters Jayshma and Kavya.
