Wed Oct 02 17:56:14 UTC 2024: ## Windows 11 24H2 Update Causes Gaming Headaches
Gamers are facing issues with the newly released Windows 11 24H2 update, with two major problems identified:
* **Asphalt 8 crashing:** The popular racing game occasionally crashes after installing the update.
* **Easy Anti-Cheat BSOD errors:** Users with older versions of the anti-cheat software are experiencing Blue Screen of Death errors.
These issues have led Microsoft to put affected systems on compatibility hold, meaning users cannot install the update through the standard Windows Update app. Upgrading via other methods also triggers a warning, indicating the PC is not ready for the update.
Microsoft and the developers of the affected apps are working on a fix. In the meantime, they recommend updating games in the hopes that a compatible version of Easy Anti-Cheat will be included in the update.
This isn’t the first time Microsoft has encountered update issues. A previous preview update, KB5043145, caused widespread reboots and BSODs, forcing Microsoft to issue a rollback.
While these issues are a headache for Microsoft, the company acknowledges the challenges of ensuring compatibility across the vast array of hardware configurations used by Windows users.
Despite the problems, Microsoft is expected to release a fix soon, allowing gamers to enjoy the latest Windows 11 version on their gaming PCs.
