Wed Oct 02 15:30:46 UTC 2024: ## Controversial Islamic Preacher Zakir Naik Meets Pakistan Prime Minister Amid Money Laundering Charges

**ISLAMABAD, Pakistan:** Zakir Naik, a controversial Islamic preacher wanted in India for alleged money laundering charges, met with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday. This meeting comes amidst Naik’s month-long tour of Pakistan, organized by the Pakistani government.

Naik arrived in Pakistan on Monday, greeted by high-ranking government officials at the New Islamabad Airport. He is scheduled to hold public lectures in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad throughout October. His son, Fariq Naik, an Islamic scholar, will accompany him on the tour.

While the Pakistani government has extended a warm welcome to Naik, his presence has raised eyebrows internationally. In August, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that Malaysia would not condone terrorism and would take action if sufficient evidence of Naik’s alleged wrongdoings were presented.

Naik, known for his inflammatory speeches, faces money laundering charges in India and is alleged to have incited hatred through his speeches. His channel, PeaceTV, is banned in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka due to its controversial content. He has also been denied entry to Canada and the United Kingdom.

Despite the controversy surrounding him, Naik has been invited to Pakistan for a month-long tour, including meetings with senior government officials. This visit has sparked criticism, highlighting the complex relationship between the Pakistani government and individuals facing serious allegations.
