Thu Oct 03 00:56:19 UTC 2024: ## Indian Pacer Mohammed Shami Slams Fake Injury Rumors, Assures Fans He’s Working Hard for Return

**Bengaluru, India:** Star Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has slammed false reports regarding his fitness and participation in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, Shami is targeting a return for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand and Australia.

The rumors, claiming that Shami sustained a knee injury and will face a delayed return, have been widely dismissed by the pacer himself. In a tweet, he stated that neither he nor the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made any such statements. He urged fans to ignore information from unofficial sources and refrain from spreading false news.

“Why these type of baseless rumors? I’m working hard and trying my level best to recover. Neither the BCCI nor me have mentioned that I am out of the Border Gavaskar series. I request the public to stop paying attention to such news from unofficial sources. Please stop and don’t…,” he wrote.

Shami, who recently underwent ankle surgery after the ODI World Cup 2023, has been focusing on his recovery. Although he acknowledged that he is in no rush to return, he is determined to regain full fitness and contribute to the Indian team’s success.

His return is particularly crucial for India’s upcoming tour of Australia, where they will be looking to defend their Border-Gavaskar Trophy title and complete a hat-trick of series wins against the Kangaroos in their home conditions.
