**Donington, UK -** The legendary British motorcycle brand, Norton Motorcycles, is poised for a comeback, fueled by a significant investment from Indian automotive giant TVS Motor Company. After a period of restructuring, Norton is set to launch a range of six new models over the next three years, targeting both the UK and international markets, including a highly anticipated US debut.
Known for its iconic Commando model and association with Hollywood legends like Clint Eastwood and Keanu Reeves, Norton has been revitalized under TVS’s ownership. The company plans to retain its traditional British craftsmanship and design, but leverage TVS’s manufacturing expertise and global distribution network to increase production and reach.
“We’re going to remain premium, luxury quality, beautifully hand-built, quintessentially British-designed bikes, but with the scale TVS bring, and the capability,” said Norton’s executive director, Richard Arnold.
Arnold, the former CEO of Manchester United Football Club, emphasized the unique experience of riding a motorcycle, describing it as a mindful and immersive journey.
TVS, the fourth largest motorcycle producer globally, brings a wealth of experience and resources to Norton. The company has committed £200 million (approximately $260 million) to revive the brand and expand its reach.
“Norton, when we bought it, was a very small brand, but now we are reviving it in a modern way,” said Sudarshan Venu, managing director of TVS. “Looking forward, it’s ready to be a leading global brand. I think we bring a lot of resources, engineers and global distribution.”
The first of the new Norton models are expected to be released in the UK next year, with a US launch shortly after. While the US market is dominated by Harley-Davidson, Norton is confident that its uniquely British charm and design will appeal to a new generation of riders.
“I think what Norton brings is a uniquely British charm,” said Venu. “A certain detail, a certain design, drivability, that is truly unique. I think young aspiring consumers will really enjoy this differentiated experience.”
With a new state-of-the-art factory in the West Midlands, Norton is set to make a significant comeback, promising to reclaim its place as a leading player in the global motorcycle market.
